The The Block Public House Experience
About Us
The Block Public House is proudly located in a historic building on Main St. in North Bay, Ontario. It was built in 1911 and originally housed the city's first hardware store. Cochrane Dunlop Hardware was known as the business that helped build the city. The building housed several businesses over the years but a devastating fire in 2012 caused the doors to close. In 2023, after much restoration and renovation, "The Cochrane Block" building at 122 Main St. West North Bay, re-opened its doors as the city's newest Gastro Pub, The Block Public House.
Our Atmosphere
At The Block Public House, we offer a casual dining experience unlike any other in North Bay. We proudly support local farmers and businesses in an effort to feature farm to table dishes. We offer a variety of hand crafted signature cocktails, perfect wine pairings and a wide selection of Ontario craft beers, for our guests to enjoy in our modern yet rustic dining room. With private dining options in our beautiful Barrel Room, large booths, or smaller tables, we can accommodate your needs from a larger party to an intimate evening . We feature regular special events, including live music, specialty culinary events, and social events.

Whether you're looking for a quiet night out with the family or hosting a corporate lunch-in, The Block has you covered! Our offerings include ‘Kids eat for $5' every Tuesday, daily lunch specials, weekend cocktail and dinner features. Group menus, family style dinners and hors d'oeuvres menus are also available upon request, in our private dining room.
